I was happy it could replace the 50W halogens that was previously installed. 3x3w=9w vs 3 x 50w = 150w. The bulk of the of savings is the short lifetime of the halogen vs the long life of LEDs. There's one draw back, the LED bulb could pick bad AC's (Alternating Current) wiring, the result is a rapidly flickering light. Halogens do not flicker because the filament stays hot as the current changes. These bulbs can handle both Ac and DC power.
