I have owned and looked after this s tape deck from new. It is in beautiful condition cosmetically (see pictures) with all parts perfectly intact except for a broken hinge on the dust cover. I also have the original instruction booklet plus a comprehensive service manual, both in excellent condition. It is a 3 speed 4 track stereo reel-reel recorder, silent in operation with crystal clear sound (frequency response up to Hz) and separate record and playback heads enabling sound on sound /echo and tape monitoring, and with excellent easy to use controls. But after fitting a genuine brand new playback tape head a while ago I think that I must have soldered the wires back incorrectly, so that needs looking at. Also the fast forward button seems to have stuck. I am now hard of hearing and my eyesight is not what it was so I cannot be bothered to try and fix it and it is therefore reluctantly sold for spares or repair, but when working is an excellent machine. This reel to reel tape deck uses standard quarter inch tape. As far as I can tell it's in full working order. It has speeds of 3.75 and 7.5 and up to 7 inch spools. Some time ago I transfered all my tapes to digital format and I no longer need this item. This is quite heavy and fragile so I'd advise "buyer collects". AKAI DS 3-head 2-speed reel-to-reel hi-fi stereo tape

One of the classic reel-to-reels from Akai, offering 2 speeds (3.75ips/7.5ips), off-tape monitoring plus mono/stereo recording and playback time of up to 3 hours per side (using a 7" reel with ft tape). All of the transport controls work fine - play, pause, record, fast-forward and rewind - and the machine is cosmetically in good/very good condition. Inputs/outputs:- on the front panel there are 2 microphone inputs plus a headphone socket; at the rear there are RCA line inputs (for CD, tuner, MP3 player etc.) and RCA line outputs (for connection to an amplifier) plus a DIN socket and voltage selector. A small piece of veneer is damaged at the back of the left-hand side panel and one of the rubber reel retainers will need replacing - this is reflected in the price. Complete with empty take-up spool plus a used 7" reel of tape. Happy to demonstrate. Cash on collection only. No postage or delivery.
