We have a huge flock of Soay Sheep now - we started with just 8 and now have over 100! So we are looking to reduce our numbers! If you graze horses, did you realise the benefits of grazing sheep with horses? The horse parasites don't infect sheep and vise versa. Sheep consume larvae from the pasture that would otherwise infest the horses.The sheep also graze the grass down to allow better growth, whereas horses patch graze and tear grass, leaving the paddock a bit clumpy. They graze together happily, horses love lambs for company. Grazing in this way saves a lot of topping and management. Get in touch if you would like to know more, we have either lambs or older ewes available. Soay sheep are very low maintenance and do NOT require shearing, dagging or much intervention at all - just worming and the occasional horn trim!£50 each or open to offers if you buy more and can offer them a great home!
