Shabby Chic Painted Oak Bureau

This is a rather lovely bureau which is perfect for use in an office or study, the ideal place to store a laptop and sit and work. The bureau is made of oak and is heavy and solid, it dates to the earlier half of the 20th Century and is elegantly designed with a fall front decorated with carved detailing. The fall front opens to reveal a useful fitted interior with multiple pigeon holes for storing paperwork and stationary, the fall front is lockable and the key is present. Below this two spacious drawers offer further storage space, the drawer fronts are finished with lovely brass drop handles and have clean unpainted interiors, there is a separate key which locks both drawers. I have hand painted this piece in 'Mudlark' from Dulux's new range of Heritage paint colours, the colour is a dark earthy grey shade which is quite striking and contemporary. The finish has been lightly distressed for a gently aged look and then waxed for a durable finish which has a slight sheen. CONDITION The bureau is in good structural condition with some small cosmetic marks. There is a small shrinkage crack to the inside and front face of the fall front and various small knocks and dents to the wood here and there. There are some old inactive wood worm holes to the back left hand leg which have been treated and filled and there is a small repair to the corner edge of the right hand side panel.
