S.A.D. LAMP LOOKING FOR HAPPY NEW HOME! Let's face it - UK weather really isn't the best. And if you have Seasonal Affective Disorder, you know how much of a grind it is during the winter days, where there really isn't any day at all. This lamp simulates the bright light of the sweet summer sun by blasting away your woes with 3 broad-spectrum bulbs (no harmful UV light) at an incredible Lux. This lamp is medically certified ("Certified Medical Device (class 2a), producing lux at 35cm, independently measured") and only 8 months old, bought brand new in October . I'm moving to the tropics soon, where sunlight is just a *little* more readily available than here in Scotland, which is the only reason I'm selling this lamp. I was skeptical about SAD lamps in general at first, but I really can't recommend this enough. The light bulbs are specifically designed to imitate sunlight and that really does help keep your mood and energy-levels in balance. If you need replacement bulbs in a few years time they can be purchased easily from Lumie (the manufacturer) or off Amazon. Lumie is really reputable, the product is top-of-the-line, and it's medically certified - so even if there are cheaper alternatives, this particular product won't risk you hurting your eyes or breaking down. I've kept my lamp in the corner of my room and it's easily stronger than the overhead light, so I tended to use this as the primary light source while working at my desk in the evenings. The lamp comes with a translucent cover so the light is emitted nice and diffuse, instead of glaring. In autumn and winter it was fantastic to use between 4-8pm when the sun had set but I still needed to be working and maintaining a good level of energy and motivation. Even in the spring/summer, when there are several overcast days in a row, it's nice to pop the light on for a while! It's a neutral white light so it's great for reading, being on the computer, and doing artwork! Approx. 30x60cm, with an inbuilt handle and cable (UK plug).
