Schäfer & Vater - Jugendstil jewellery covered box.
Very special covered box made by Schäfer & Vater in the period Gustav Schaefer and Guenther Vater founded the Schaefer & Vater porcelain factory in Volkstedt Rudolstad, Thuringa, Germany in . Their goal was to produce high quality porcelain. Schafer & Vater were better known for their comical and en figural items. They crafted this in teapots, jugs, creamers, bottles, game strikers and planters. The lid of the box is finished with a very sophisticated face and it has on top of the head a kind of “pheasants helmet”. Furthermore, the lid is finished with an image of a pheasant. The box has some wear to the gilding (see photos). Measurements: WXHXD 8.5 x 7.8 x7 cm and in the colours green and gold.
