These early made in Japan Tokia J-160E's are known to be the closest you will get to a real Gibson J-160E. This guitar plays and sounds better to be honest (not ladder braced)I have owned a proper 70th Anniversry ladder braced Gibson J-160E etc, and this sounds far better. The neck joins the body at the 15th fret, it has the open book Gibson style headstock, the vintage dark sunburst finish,the P-90 passive pickup etc. The guy I bought this from had played in a Beatles tribute,and said this was built in the late 80's. The pickup like a Gibson J-160E is passive and does not require a battery. This would be ideal for a Beatles or John Lennon fan, or for anyone setting up a Beatles tribute band who wants to sound the business ! Amazing tone from this guitar, Brian May of Queen fame plays a vintage Japanese Tokia, I now understand why. Gibson J-45 (J45 J 45).

A very special guitar. The original owner gigged it heavily in the s and s, then it was eventually acquired by a guy who was more into jazz guitars, and so I bought it from him. It obviously took a few knocks in the early days, and it shows them proudly. More importantly, it seems to me to be in perfect structural condition, with no sign of there having been a neck re-set or of it having suffered any serious damage. And, even more importantly, it plays and sounds beautiful. Although I keep most of my top-end guitars in their cases, this sits on a stand near to my seat so that I can pick it up whenever I feel the need to make some music. And it never lets me down. The one thing that seems to be non-original is the bridge. You can see from the photos that it says it has an adjustable bridge, but you can see from other photos that it does not. Having looked through various Gibson forums it seems that the adjustable bridges were not popular, and many players replaced them with a fixed bridge, which produced a far better, more stable sound. This would appear to have happened in this case. The hard case works. I don’t know anything about s Gibson cases. I find it hard to believe that this is an original Gibson case – there is no logo that I can see, and the quality seems a bit low – but it may be. It’s certainly old. At any rate, it does the job of keeping the guitar safe from point A to point B. I’m happy to wrap it and its case in cardboard and post it out. About £40 p&p (uninsured) in the UK, or I can get a quote for insured or elsewhere (or you can handle that side yourself). And see my other ads!

  Gibson J-35 vintage guitar

Up for sale is a Gibson J-35 with original blonde finish. Three tone bars and non scalloped braces. The nut width is 47 MM wide and has a chunky “V” neck profile. All original except tuner buttons and a new Calton case.  There is a repaired crack (non cleated) and two tiny hairlines on the back, the typical hairline by the pick guard, and  one hairline on the lower bout. All are completely stable. The guitar is in excellent condition for its age with some honest playwear. I purchased it a few years ago, and had Jim Bagett inspect it. After doing refret and a neck set (with hide glue), he gave it a clean bill of health and declared it "a great find and a splendid guitar".  The guitar had stayed with its original owner in Ohio until I purchased it from a dealer a few years ago.  Sound and playability is superb. Dry, woody, and very responsive, the notes just seem to fall out of the soundhole when you strum it lightly. And you can really dig into it without overdriving the top - she just keeps bouncing back. The loudest Gibson I have ever tried, by a fair margin. The trebles are unusually strong and fat - it is impossible to choke the treble strings, they just ring out with a lot of harmonic shimmer and goodness.  Make an offer! The tuners are Grover tuners and it has L.R. Baggs pickups................oh go and check out the website, this instrument is awesome, the only reason i am selling it is that i have fallen in love with electric again and this just doesn't get used. Gibson Sg 60's tribute mahogany - special edition w/gibson soft case

A beautiful Gibson SG Tribute that sounds phenomenal. Bought it as a backup guitar for a big show and never ended up using it. So it's never been gigged or used.
