VINTAGE 'S 'HYGENA' KITCHEN LARDER CABINET ~ COLLECTABLE OR IDEAL FOR SMALL KITCHEN

This 's Vintage HYGENA ‘Kitchenette’ painted Sage Green & White. It is a great item for a collector of Vintage/retro furniture, or perfect to use in a small kitchen space, very practicable. It comes complete with the original fold down enamel metal shelf in very good condition and has original etched glass in the top doors, original air vent in top cupboard. The hinges are all original Hygena. The door handles have all been replaced. The cutlery drawer has the original green felt lining. It has been painted internally white eggshell making it easy to keep it clean and the doors are painted Sage green. The cabinet has lots of useful storage. Includes the original metal cool box/bread bin. Please be aware that this item does show some signs of wear, but that is to be expected considering its age and does add to its authenticity. vintage shabby chic linen press kitchen larder unit housekeepers cupboard wardrobe armoire, This was made by famous cabinet maker Frederick Tibbenham of Ipswich,Suffolk,England,(see its dear little vintage label)an English cabinet maker who started producing furniture in . He was renowned for producing high quality pieces and held a Royal Warrant for furniture production. His factory continued to make pieces until the mid 50's when it then closed.Fantastic large piece of quality solid wood vintage furniture which started life as a wardrobe back in the early part of last century but has since been shelved out in solid pine slats to use as a storage cupboard. (all other items shown in photos are suggestions only and are not included!)I have owned it for about 20 years and bought it when my daughters were little as a hide it all away cupboard in their bedroom but they are grown up now and no longer need it.(It can still be reverted back to a wardrobe again if required as the hanging rail fittings are still in place and the slats are screwed in not nailed for easy removal.) As can be seen from the photos it can hold a huge amount of 'stuff',for kids rooms it amply holds all their toys,books,games and clothing with plenty of room for those big plastic crates with lids so its all tidy yet accessible,it would also make a great linen press for a massive amount of bedding,spare quilts,pillows etc,and equally would work well as a capacious kitchen cupboard/larder unit with bags of room for food,pots, pans,cookery books even a bread bin and toaster. If you are lucky enough to have space this would be great as a housekeepers cupboard as you could store all your laundry and cleaning products and even have room for your ironing to keep it all out of sight! The shelves are nice and strong and can easily also accommodate a microwave oven(the flex could be taken out through the back or side). It is painted in a nice chalky off white which will tone with any decor and just has a little bit of natural distressing accumulated over the years(this could be further rubbed back if distressing is your thing to really accentuate the lovely shaped mouldings and shaped feet,or conversely repainted in a lovely heritage paint colour such as Farrow & Ball or Annie Sloan to give it a pristine finish.The interior (apart from the slats) is all original and features brass fittings for the clothes rails to slot into and brass stays on the bottom of the doors. This is a large piece of furniture but is designed to come apart for easy transportation(so it could be taken upstairs in period houses in times past),the corniced top lifts off and the main part divides in two down the middle(the slats would need unscrewing one side first)we could help with loading or deliver it ourselves for our fuel cost.Measurements are cms) High, cms) wide,cms)deep £, Peacehaven, .
