Click here to view this lot Welcome to Passion d'Orient:Zanjan is the main city of the similarly named province, located in a fertile and green area, full of villages where numerous nomadic tribes live. The carpets made in this area are very similar to those of the neighbouring district of Hamadan. Usually, they have a restrained format, mainly Sejadeh, and are generally decorated with simple geometric patterns bearing medallions in the centre. The use of the more or less simplified Herati pattern is very common. The bright colours are enhanced thanks to the frequent use of black colour for the background. They are sturdy carpets, with controlled cost, but very original at the same time, as they are often made directly in the houses and are not influenced by the export market demand.Manufacture: Knotted by hand.
