Super Sony 2x95W MHC-S7 hifi with remote and speakers
Super Sony MHC-S7 2x75 watts hifi system with tuner, 3xCD, original speakers and remote Tape deck not working, some marks – see photos This component system from Sony was a top performer in its day, with a price tag to match (c£600 discounted). IT still is more than a match for modern systems, and sounds punchy, smooth and detailed through its original 3-way ported speakers. It’s in full working order, except for the tape deck, which just makes a clunking noise (probably perished belts); although the heads look like they’ve never been used. It comes with the original dedicated Sony remote which controls all functions. The manual is available online from Sony – I have a pdf copy I can send you if you can’t find it. The amp is very powerful, the manual spec says 95Wx2 DIN but that would blow out your windows; I think around w RMS is nearer the mark – more than enough for the biggest of listening rooms. The control unit is also an RDS FM/AM tuner with presets, and its clock timer allows wake-up to music and sleep time settings. There are various tone and listening hall modes to choose from, and a fluorescent display of info on the source, volume and other settings. The CD player has 3-disc capability, plays CDRs and tracks can be programmed in order of play. With the addition of centre and rear speakers, the system can do surround sound in various modes and playback digital content in DTS and Dolby digital through the optical digital input. The CD drive is also connected via an optical cable. There are other analog stereo inputs for an external tape/MD player and an auxiliary device, so you could plug in a phone, ipod or laptop with a phono adapter cable. All ribbon connectors are present and correct. Speaker cables included too. A s mentioned above there are some marks as you’d expect from a used item; a scratch to the front of the main amp and some minor damage to the speaker cabinets / grille cloths which can be easily restored. Please study the detailed photos as these form part of the description. However, for a good-looking versatile and fab-sounding hifi, you won’t find much better under £100. Read More
