A solid bronze ships crest for HMS Anson mounted on an American oak plinth. The next HMS ANSON due in service is an Astute class submarine. HMS Anson saw service in ww2, escorting nine Russian convoys in the Arctic. She took part in moves to draw attention away from Operation Husky in July . In October '43 she took part in Operation Leader. In Feb she provided cover for Operation Tungsten, the successful air strike against the German battleship Tirpitz. She accepted the surrender of Japanese forces in Hong Kong on 15 August and after the end of the war she became the flagship of the 1st Battle Squadron of the British Pacific Fleet.
