Diameter: 16.5 mm.Septimius Severus became emperor following a bloody period in which five emperors were killed in a period of two years. After Pertinax was assassinated, Septimus seized his opportunity. He killed the reigning emperor Didius Julianus and seized power. Septimius Severus was born in Libya and had friends at the highest level. Septimius restored order, defeated a few more usurpers, and received a hero's welcome.
