RIC 118; Mairat ; AGK 14b. Maximinus I (approx. ), commonly called Maximinus Thrax, which means Maximinus the Thracian, was emperor of the Roman Empire from 235 until the spring of 238. Maximinus never actually set foot in Rome, however. He was the first of the so-called 'Soldier Emperors', who did not come from a high-ranking family but were placed on the throne by the army.
