I have around 45 ex battery hens rescued recently from a farm looking for new forever homes. They have been wormed treated for mites and vaccinated also are all on vitamins to help boost recovery. Fresh Start for Hens have ex commercial egg laying hens available for re-homing on Sat 14th Jan They're around 72 weeks old which is much younger than their natural life span. They're no longer considered commercially viable to the egg industry although most of them will continue to lay regular eggs for many months or even years. We re-home them into safe, secure environments where they can live out the rest of their lives. This may be into back gardens / allotments / paddocks / care homes / schools etc. They make lovely little pets and most become tame and happy to be handled in next to no time. FREE RANGE LAYING HENS NEED GOOD HOMES - Hen Resue Hants/EastDorset border

These hens are being rescued from slaughter to continue their life in a forever home. They are 80 week old, free range and organically reared at the Macs Farm, Sussex. Lovely hens with lots of life and eggs left in them. Need to go to fox-proof fenced places. We have rescued thousand of these hens over the years and they have proved lovely pets and excellent layers! Pre-ordering is essential, - they will be brought down from Sussex on 15th/16th July (Sat and a Sunday) to Ringwood and Cadnam respectively. You will need to bring a box or cage to collect them. They are £1.50 each (Minimum order 5) plus we ask for a donation to help with transport costs as we are just volunteers who do the rescue. They're no longer required by the egg production sector so are due for slaughter. We buy them from the egg producers and rehome them into environments where they can live out the rest of their natural lives.
