We keep a small number of Rare & Traditional Breed pigs each year. They have large grass paddocks to run around in, a deep muddy wallow and a big comfortable straw filled ark they call home. Unlike commercial pigs that are described as "outdoor bred" (but spend the vast majority of their lives in indoor pens), our pigs get to see the sky and feel the grass under their trotters every single day. The freedom and exercise that our pigs get means that the pork they produce is rich and flavorsome with the right amount of fat needed to keep it moist, and delicious with proper crackling. I have a number of cockerels available to good homes, including: 1 x copper black French maran 1 x copper blue French maran 1 x blue laced orpington 2 x araucanas 3 x cross breeds - 50% Cotsworld legbar (blue egg layers, like a cream legbar), 25% light sussex and 25% speckled sussex. These birds were hatched in an incubator by myself last August. The pure breed eggs were purchased and the cross breeds are from our own hens, which can be seen.
