Tolkein's "The Silmarillion", which was published posthumously by his son, Christopher, in . This was the first publication in Great Britain in paperback by George Allen and Unwin, who also published the original first edition. All pages good, clean, tightly bound, no marks or damage and spine unbroken (book doesn't lie flat when you open it). Only signs of age and wear are to covers, please see photos. Increasingly hard to get hold of at a sensible price, this would make a perfect Christmas present for a collector, or for any Tolkein enthusiast. Has been in my vast book collection for donkey's years, but I never got round to reading it. Time to let someone who really appreciates Tolkein and all the Lord Of The Rings type genre fully enjoy this fascinating book. Back cover has had top corner bent back at some point, though lies flat now. Have spotted only one page that has been marked by turning its corner, page , all others undamaged, unmarked, no notes, etc. Single brown line across top edge of pages, not really visible if you're reading the pages, only seen if you close the book and turn it so you can see the closed pages all together. No marks to bottom edges or side edges. Some degree of shading / browning throughout, most noticeable on the insides of both covers, but to be expected for a book of this age. Spine broken, though not enough for the pages to lie flat when book is opened. Very minor corner and edge wear to covers.
