Melting Polar Ice Caps
Global warming is melting the polar ice cap in the Arctic ocean, fast! There’s much less ice than there used to be 30 years ago. The ice is thinner now and it doesn’t last as long as it used to; it also breaks up more easily. This is really bad for the animals, like polar bears, walruses and seals, that live or breed on the ice. It’s also bad for Santa Claus, because the workshop where his elves make the Christmas toys is at the North Pole, and the North Pole is melting. They’re about to lose their home but Santa can’t do anything about it because he’s losing his magic. Plus he’s under attack by a rival toymaker, Mr Snear, who is trying to steal Christmas.
