PRS 408 Maple Top Guitar, 10-Top

For sale is my beautiful scarlet red PRS 408. This was made in and has a highly-figured maple 10-Top which, as you can see from the pictures is quite stunning. The original owner bought this from Sound Affects Premier in Ormskirk in , but virtually never played it (he admitted he regularly buys guitars because he likes the look of them, rather than to play). I bought it from him earlier this year (intending to play it), but recent changes mean I just don’t get the chance. As such, I feel it’s time to find it a new home. It’s too good just to be sat in its case. As I’ve hardly played this guitar either, it is in superb condition (again as you can see from the pictures). The neck is the Pattern Thin version, which is really comfortable (& fast), sitting in the hand perfectly. And the range of sounds is amazing, having two mini toggle coil tap switches (one for each pickup), in addition to the usual volume, tone & 3-way blade pickup selector. This lovely Paul Reed Smith Swamp Ash Special was made in the USA in and as far as I can see it's all original specifications. It has a beautifully carved swamp ash body which is very resonant with great sustain. The body has a turquoise finish and is in good overall condition for a 17 year old guitar. There are a few small chips on edges and one at the base of the back, just normal signs of wear. It has a 22 fret maple neck and board. There is a small rub on the first fret position, but all the frets are in good condition. It also has a PRS tremolo unit and PRS locking tuners. The neck and bridge pickups are genuine McCarty PAF style low output humbuckers, offering a nice clean silvery tone. The middle pickup is a Seymour Duncan vintage rails which gives all the quack you need for styles from country to classic rock. There is a coil tap via the tone control and a 3 way switch, giving you 6 initial tonal options. This is a superb quality high end guitar for a gigging musician or a fine piece in any collectors collection. It comes in a top quality hard case which I believe is also the original one, complete with tags and instructions. Collection only from Shadforth, Durham. Cash on collection.
