Portuguese Saturday School for Children - Berkshire in
Dear Parent, I am Portuguese and after being in the UK for the last 13 years I have been working with both, Reading and West Berkshire Council's as a Community Language Assistant and Pupil Support Officer. My role for the Council's has covered a wide spectrum of functionalities. From supporting Portuguese GCSE students improving grammatical understanding, listening, reading and writing skills to support students from Primary to Secondary Schools to access the curriculum through their first language - Portuguese. Most recent I have begun two after school clubs - Portuguese Club - offering Portuguese tuition lessons to a wide range of children from different nationalities allowing them exposure to a new language. Also to Portuguese children who have lived in UK from birth or just arrived (so the children can continue to learn and be in touch with their native language). From completely beginner to advanced levels (A1, A2, B1, B2) my tuition lessons cover the four language skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing. All aspects of the Portuguese language are explored in a safe, dynamic and fun way. My tuition lessons are based on an active and communicative approach through structured learning paths, differentiated and motivating and able to respond to the context of heterogeneous groups of EPE. From various texts and songs, my lessons proposes several challenges, diverse games and activities of written and oral comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, even making room for curiosities of Portuguese culture. All my tuition lessons are affordable, term time only and in accordance with the Reference Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR) and the Framework for the Portuguese Education Abroad (QuaREPE) I am DBS checked, hold a First Aid training and professional insurance in place. If you would be kind enough to email me if you would like further details I can then see if there is enough interest to take this forward. Muito Obrigada, Maria Rodrigues-Wood
