Plant for sale- A large pot (24 cm) of hollyhock plant.

Hi, I have this pot of healthy hollyhock plant for sale. It is a large plant and will flower this year but I do not know the colour of the flowers. If you are interested email me or phone me. I am in North London. My postcode is N11 3PQ. I am near to New Southgate Station. Click the map if you want to see my location and how to come here. If you want to see my other plants click ` see all ads' I recycle old plastic plant pots. Please bring them to me if you do not want to re-use your pots. Hollyhock plants are usually grown in borders or against wall or fences because the stalk of this plant is very tall. Hollyhocks are considered a biennial, that is, they grow foliage the first year and flower, then form seeds and die the next. Plants easily self-seed to provide an endless supply of blossoms. Hollyhocks will thrive in full sun to partial shade and rich, moist soil. Prior to planting work plenty of organic matter, such as compost or aged animal manure, into the garden. This helps condition the soil, which improves drainage and increases its ability to hold water and nutrients. Water as needed during dry conditions to keep flowers blooming. Adding an organic flower fertilizer every few weeks will result in bigger, bolder blooms. When flowers fade, cut stalks to the ground. Avoid overhead watering whenever possible. Water in the morning. Plant for sale-A pelargonia plant in fabric pot

Plant for sale-A pelargonia plant in fabric pot

This is a healthy plant and is ready for planting in fertile moist soil in the sun. Water your pelargoniums sparingly every two to three days during their active growing season. Feed your pelargoniums every fortnight.Dead-heading regularly helps prolong flowering. Equally happy in pots or borders, pelargoniums flower right through the summer, without regular watering. Lift the plants with care and pot them up and brought indoors for the winter before the frost, cutting the top growth back by one-third as you do so. Take care to water sparingly during the winter. If kept at 7-10C (F), plants may flower right through the winter inside your house. Otherwise cut back your plants, with care, by two-thirds and keep them almost dry until they begin to shoot in the spring, when watering can start again. You can take cuttings at that moment, too. Plant for sale-Evening Primrose plants- 50p per plant

Plant for sale-Evening Primrose plants- 50p per plant

Pink evening primrose is part of the Oenothera genus and its scientific name is Oenothera speciosa. The speciosa part of this plant's botanical name means 'showy'. Can be very aggressive. This is a vigorous, spreading plant. This variety typically blooms in the following colours: Cameo pink and Floral white and Fluorescent yellow. When mature, blooms are roughly 5.1 cm (that's 1.99 inches in imperial) in diameter. The mature flowers take a single form, with an approximate petal count of 4. Pink evening primrose grows as an annual/perennial and is a non-edible flower / ornamental. Being an annual / perennial plant, it tends to grow either as a single season plant, or a plant that can stay in your garden for many years. Pink evening primrose normally grows to a mat-forming habit. Try planting Pink evening primrose if you'd like to attract bees to your garden. United States is believed to be where Pink evening primrose originates from. Pink evening primrose is great for inexperienced gardeners and those that like low maintainance gardens. Large satiny deep-pink flowers appear from early summer into the autumn, seeming to rest right on top of the leaves. Excellent choice for hot, dry slopes, this is a little too aggressive for the rock garden or border: place carefully. Also nice in containers. Use as a groundcover to take advantage of its spreading nature. Drought tolerant, once established. Easily divided in spring Ad ID: Delivery Service Consumer Credit

Click ` see all ads' if you want to see more plants for sale. I recycle old plastic plant pots. Bring your plastic plant pots to me if you do not want to re-use your pots. Runner beans need a support to climb up. The traditional method is to grow them individually up inwardly sloping 2.4m (8ft) tall bamboo canes tied near their top to a horizontal cane. If you slope the bamboo canes so that they meet in the middle and tie them here so that the ends of the canes extend beyond the row you will find picking is easier and the yield is usually better. When growing in beds and borders a wigwam of canes takes up less room and helps produce an ornamental feature. Loosely tie the plants to their supports after planting; after that they will climb naturally. Remove the growing point once the plants reach the top of their support. Keep an eye out for slugs and blackfly that may attack the plants. Ad ID: Delivery Service Consumer Credit

If you want to see my location click and maximise the map. Swiss chard is actually a beet that really doesn’t produce a bulbous root. These wonderful plants do, however, produce many large, dark leaves that can have red, white or yellow stalks. These leaves are perfect in dishes that include greens. Locate the plants in a full sun to partially shaded area of the garden. So long as your swiss chard has been given sufficient water, they can grow to two feet in a season. These versatile vegetables can be enjoyed for both their spinachlike, vitamin-rich leaves and their crisp midribs or stalks, which may be eaten in much the same way as fresh asparagus – lightly steamed or stir-fried with a knob of butter and a twist of pepper. Alternatively, harvest the plants young for a tender, cut-and-comeagain salad crop that keeps on supplying nutritious leaves. The primary reason Swiss chard is such a winning vegetable to grow, however, is down to its vibrant stalks. They are available in almost every colour under the rainbow: red, orange and yellow, purple and violet, green or brilliant white – and virtually everything in-between. This varied colour palette makes Swiss chard more than just another leafy green, opening up the possibilities of using it in an ornamental border or sowing into pots on the patio where it can be admired at close quarters. I am selling this plant. I am in North London. My postcode is N11 3PQ. I am near to New Southgate station. Click and maximise if you want to see my location. Cornflowers are what we can call, ‘cut and come again’ flowers…if you cut them above a leaf node then the little star will produce more flowers for you…albeit on slightly shorter stems. It prefers to grow in free draining soil and in full sun.Don’t let the ground dry out too much whilst they are growing.Cornflowers have an upright posture that helps them fit in tight spaces. Cornflower nectar is unusually sweet, and thus a preferred food source for many beneficial insects. Cornflowers (Centaurea cyanus) are a UK native and once grew vigorously through the corn crops, patching the countryside with blue fields. But when farmers began using herbicides, they started to disappear and today are rare in the wild. They flourish instead in gardens. They are the most splendid of annuals. Aside from their electric blue, you can also find cornflower cultivars in other colours, from white to pink and lavender. Cornflowers grow 1 to 3 feet in height, depending on cultivar. Fertilise cornflowers once a month while they are in bloom. Snip dead flowers from the cornflower plants to force them to keep blooming. Use clean pruning shears or scissors to snip the stem off at its base. Ad ID: Delivery Service Consumer Credit

Introduction to the Plant Life of Southern California: Coast

Introduction to the Plant Life of Southern California: Coast

ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Rundel, Philip W. / Gustafson, Robert, PUBLISHER: University of California Press, Field guides often provide little ecological information, or context, for understanding the plants they identify. This book, with its engaging text and attractive illustrations, for the first time provides an ecological framework for the plants and their environments in the coast and foothill regions of Southern California, an area that boasts an extremely rich flora. It will introduce a wide audience--from general readers and students to natural history and outdoor enthusiasts--to Southern California's plant communities, their ecological dynamics, and the key plants that grow in them. Coastal beach and dune habitats, coastal and interior sage scrub, chaparral, woodlands, grasslands, riparian woodlands, and wetlands all contribute unique plant assemblages to Southern California. In addition to discussing each of these areas in depth, this book also emphasizes ecological factors such as drought, seasonal temperatures, and fire that determine which plants can thrive in each community. It covers such important topics as non-native invasive plants and other issues involved with preserving biodiversity in the ecologically rich yet heavily populated and increasingly threatened area. * 327 color photographs provide overviews of each plant community and highlight key plant species * Describes more than 300 plant species * Covers the counties of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, western Riverside, San Bernardino, and the Channel Islands * Includes a list of public areas and parks for viewing Southern California's plant communities
