Single pine bed with mattress has another single bed with matching mattress underneath that pulls out on wheels (attached) and raises up to same level as original single bed making either two separate single beds or pushed together to make a king size bed. With a mattress protector over the top, you cannot feel the join between the mattresses, it just feels like one king size bed. Very comfortable mattresses, very good condition, hardly used.
