Pictorial handmade Persian Kashan rug story of Poet Omar
This rare pictorial handmade Persian Kashan rug belongs to the first quarter of the 20th century and measures 155cm x 105cm (5'x4'4"). The weaver tried to portrait the life of famous Persian poet Omar Khayyam who composed somewhere between 200 and 600 Rubaiyat (quatrains) during his time in the old Persia. The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is among the few masterpieces that have been translated into most languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, and Urdu. The picture of Omar Khayyam seen in this rug along with other sceneries like lakes, animals, and castles drawing the imagination of a weaver about love, peace and prosperity at the time.
