Classical Motivation Theories - Similarities and Differences

Classical Motivation Theories - Similarities and Differences

Classical Motivation Theories - Similarities and Differences between them: Introduction 'We always do what we MOST WANT to do, whether or not we like what we are doing at each instant of our lives. Wanting and liking many times are not the same thing. Many people have done what they say they didn't want to do at a particular moment. And that may be true until one looks deeper into the motivation behind the doing. What they are really saying is the price they will have to pay or the consequences they will have to endure, for not doing that something may be too high or onerous for them not to do it. Such as going to work. Many people say they don't want to go to work and yet they do. Which means they don't want to risk losing their jobs and the negative hurting emotions associated with not having a job. It has been estimated about 90% to 95% of all people work at jobs which are unfulfilling and which they dislike and would leave in a minute if they only knew what they really wanted to do.' Sidney Madwed (quotationspage.com/search.php3 homesearch=motivation accessed on ) The quotation defines that nowadays motivation should be an indispensable part of every company. It is a complex and difficult topic and therefore management also has to take historical theories into account. Furthermore, it has to be figured out what employees designate as attractive for defining an effective motivation programme within the organisation. This dissertation will critically evaluate what motivation is and illustrate the different kinds of motivation theories of Abraham Maslow, Frederick Herzberg and Clayton P. Alderfer by explaining the key concepts for managing and motivating people. Due to the fact that motivation, especially employee motivation, is such a broad topic the dissertation will put a specific focus on the similarities and differences between the classical motivation theories.

Personality Capture and Emulation

Personality Capture and Emulation

Personality Capture and Emulation: Personality Capture and Emulation is the gateway to an amazing future that actually may be achieved, enabling the preservation and simulation of human personalities at progressively higher levels of fidelity. This challenge is no longer the province merely of uninhibited visionaries, but has become a solid field of research, drawing upon a wide range of information technologies in human-centered computing and cyber-human systems. Even at modest levels of accomplishment, research in this emerging area requires convergence of cognitive, social, and cultural sciences, in cooperation with information engineering and artificial intelligence, thus stimulating new multidisciplinary perspectives. Therefore this book will inspire many specific research and development projects that will produce their own valuable outcomes, even as the totality of the work moves us closer to a major revolution in human life. Will it ever really be possible to transfer a human personality at death to a technology that permits continued life Or will people come to see themselves as elements in a larger socio-cultural system, for which a societal information system can provide collective immortality even after the demise of individuals A large number and variety of pilot studies and programming projects are offered as prototypes for research that innovators in many fields may exploit for the achievement of their own goals. Together, they provide an empirical basis to strengthen the intellectual quality of several current debates at the frontiers of the human and information sciences.

Personality and Temperament in Nonhuman Primates

Personality and Temperament in Nonhuman Primates

Personality and Temperament in Nonhuman Primates: Recently, there has been an increased interest in research on personality, temperament, and behavioral syndromes (henceforth to be referred to as personality) in nonhuman primates and other animals. This follows, in part, from a general interest in the subject matter and the realization that individual differences, once consigned to 'error' terms in statistical analyses, are potentially important predictors, moderators, and mediators of a wide variety of outcomes ranging from the results of experiments to health to enrichment programs. Unfortunately, while there is a burgeoning interest in the subject matter, findings have been reported in a diverse number of journals and most of the methodological and statistical approaches were developed in research on human personality. The proposed volume seeks to gather submissions from a variety of specialists in research on individual differences in primate temperament, personality, or behavioral syndromes. We anticipate that chapters will cover several areas. The first part of this edited volume will focus on methodological considerations including the advantages and disadvantages of different means of assessing these constructs in primates and introduce some statistical approaches that have typically been the domain of human personality research. Another part of this edited volume will focus on present findings including the physiological and genetic bases of personality dimensions in primates the relationship between personality and age how personality may moderate or impact various outcomes including behavior, health, and well-being in captive and non-captive environments. For the third part of the volume we hope to obtain summaries of the existing work of the authors on the evolutionary important of personality dimensions and guideposts for future directions in this new and exciting area of research.

The former communist regime of Mao Zedong has opened itself to the world since the end of the Cultural Revolution in . This change is most apparent from the economic point of view and also from a social perspective. From on, foreign investors were allowed to enter the country to present their know-how as well as to bring in liquidity. As a consequence, there are constantly more goods manufactured in China for the global market. The progress of the economic trend clearly shows the increase of China s influence on the world market. In the year , China achieved a gross domestic product of CYN billion (about EUR billion) with a population of almost 1.3 billion people. This is an income per capita of CYN (about EUR ). In the year , the income per capita amount was only CYN (about EUR 774). This shows an increase of approximately 55 per cent only within five years. The figure on next page shows the growth of China s GDP within the past 50 years. Today Germany has a population of about 82 million people. In the year , Germany s GDP was located at around EUR billion. These figures account a German s per capita income of about EUR . Clearly, the level of the German income per capita is in absolute much higher. But the increase of Germany s GDP compared to the year before only stands at 0.9 per cent. Previously, Germany s companies reacted to the fast growth in China. In the year , Germany obtained goods at an amount of EUR 175 million. In the year , the value reached EUR 40 billion, which is an increase of 227 times. Since the year , China attained the position of the second leading non-European export partner for Germany.
