The futuristic and symbolist sets and props were lavish in this Keith Warner production of the four operas, Rhinegold, Die Valkure, Siegfried and Gotterdammerung of Richard Wagner's famous Ring cycle and there appear to have been changes from the original previous and productions. The orchestral playing by the Royal Opera House orchestra conducted by Antonio Pappano was excellent, although the "Donner" anvil in the finale of Rhinegold was replaced by a loud thud and thunder flashes, and on the first performance on 1st October, what may be some additional tubas and horns appear to have been added among other changes to the score to the Gotterdammerung finale, with no special effects for the collapse of Valhalla, which does not appear to have been picked up by the critics. The finale appeared not to be quite the same as the recordings of say Solti, Von Karajen, and others. There were also other flat horns in both Siegried and Gotterdammerung. However, these hicups seem to have been ironed out by the third performance on 24th October, and the awful row of tubas in the finale have disappeared, which were certainly not in the original score, and the rendition is more in keeping with the recognised versions. Not sure what went on here to be quite frank. The singing was excellent by John Lundgren as Wotan the Wanderer, Sarah Connolly as Fricka, Gunter Groissock as Fasolt, Johannes Kranzle as Albericht, Gerhard Siegal as Mime, Stevan Vinke as Siegfried, Nina Stemme as Brunnhilde, Heather Engebretson as the Woodbird. Die Werwölfe und der Grimm in der magischen Welt des Zauberers Harry Potter: Joanne K. Rowling erschuf in ihren 'Harry Potter'-Werken eine Zaubererwelt, die durch unterschiedlichste Charaktere, Tiere und Objekte geprägt wird. Basis hierfür scheinen Mythologien und Sagen zu sein. Viele der Helden werden durch sprechende Namen charakterisiert. Die Geschichte jedes Buches ist zunächst sehr rätselhaft und wird erst nach und nach aufgeschlüsselt. Der Leser kann dabei Parallelitäten und Differenzen zwischen den einzelnen Personen und deren Lebensläufen erkennen. Besonders die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen, die von Vertrauen und Argwohn geprägt sind, sind dabei die Grundlage für die Geschichte. Im Folgenden werde ich die genannten Punkte genauer untersuchen. Zunächst gebe ich einen kurzen Überblick über die Rahmenhandlung und beschreibe einige Figuren genauer. Dabei werde ich auch einen Blick darauf werfen, wie diese in die Erzählung eingeführt werden. Im Laufe der Geschichte treten unterschiedliche Gestalten auf, die (willentlich oder unwillentlich) ihre Erscheinung verändern. Besonders im dritten Band sind diese Phänomene, deren gesellschaftliche Anerkennung in der Zaubererwelt sehr stark variiert, ein zentrales Thema. Die Schwerpunkte meiner Hausarbeit lege ich auf die Beschreibung des Werwolfes Remus Lupin und auf den Animagus Sirius Black, die in dem dritten Buch 'Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Askaban' zwei der Hauptrollen spielen. Um der Konstruktion dieser Figuren gerecht zu werden, werde ich sie jedoch nicht isoliert untersuchen, sondern besonders in Bezug auf die Gesellschaft und den Werwolf Fenrir Greyback.
