The brass hilt with knucklebow and langets, marked "A & B" "P.102" the wooden grip is covered in leather (in very good condition) The brass mounted leather scabbard is also marked with "P.102" on the locket. British Pattern Artillery Sword Bayonet For Pattern Short Rifles By Enfield A British Pattern Artillery sword bayonet for the pattern short rifles by Enfield and it is complete with a steel scabbard with matching numbers. The bayonets were made by English manufacturer's and the German Solingen trade (see pages 113, item B149 of Skennerton's book British & Commonwealth Bayonets). This is a nice example of the British sword bayonet, pattern with Yataghan type blade. The blade is " long (") overall and has a curving tip. The blade is fullered for three quarters of its length. The ricasso is stamped with Enfields blade manufacturer's trademark and "17". The ricasso edge is stamped with the Enfield makers mark and "18". It's leather 2-piece grips are stamped with a chequered pattern. The grips are complete and intact and secured with 4 rivets.
