Pair of made to order cushions by local soft furnishing designer "Curtain Couture", based in North Berwick. The front side of the cover is made up in a plush corded velvet giraffe print in black and neutral and the reverse side is made from a tactile black sueded fabric. A MATCHING PAIR OF LATE VICTORIAN, WATERER AND SONS OF CHERTSEY, GENTLEMAN'S MAHOGANY LIBRARY OR ARMCHAIRS WITH SOUND FRAMES. FURNITURE FROM THIS MAKER RARELY COMES UP FOR SALE. Here we have a matching pair of Victorian solid mahogany framed gentleman's library or armchairs. They were made by the respected firm of Waterer and Sons of Chertsey in around and each frame has the maker's name stamped on the underside. They have been in dry storage for at least 50 years and the upholstery is obviously in a very scruffy condition. However, they would make a very nice project for anyone who is into antique furniture restoration. Actually I would say that anyone who enjoys furniture restoration as a hobby will find these relatively simple to tackle and I have listed all the relevant points as I see them below. The chairs were originally covered in burgundy button-backed leather. This has been removed and discarded from one and partly removed from the second. They could of course be recovered in either leather or cloth. Most of the original horse-hair stuffing and lining material is still present, plus the webbing and all springs look very good. The castors are all there but there is some wear to the bores of the brass plates so the chairs sit lower than they should. The ceramic wheels look good. The mahogany frames look very good to me. Obviously they will need some refinishing work but I can't see any damage or sign of worm. The chairs' approx. measurements in inches are 35 high x 36 deep x 24 wide. The seat is about 24 deep x 19 wide and the seat height is around 15 at the front and 13 at the rear. Please email me if you would like to view the chairs. This is a nice matching pair Of Victorian antique 'Chippendale style' Mahogany finish bedroom chairs. They need some tender loving care and restoration. Carved wooden backs, sprung upholstered seats. Short legs on castors. Mahogany staining to the wood. Been in my family since Grandad's time, but they no longer fit with our modern decor so must go to a new home. CONDITION: They need some care and attention/restoration work. One of the chair backs is cracked (see photos) and needs fixing, probably just a case of gluing back together and clamping though I am no expert. Lovely vibrant pair of London cushions featuring a London bus on one and three telephone booths/kiosks on the other. They are double sided,with the same print both sides so are fully reversible. They have zipped closures and covers can be removed for washing.
