The seats are formed with them having a curved dark Mahogany back which is upholstered and padded in a rich red velvet. The back ong>ofong> the seat has a central section also upholstered in the same red velvet. To the top ong>ofong> the back it has a polished wooden top rest. The bases ong>ofong> the seats are again upholstered and deeply padded in the same red velvet, but are wider than the normal seat ong>ofong> this age. The bottom ong>ofong> the seat has an oak base. The seats have a brass seat number attached onto them, which the buyer can choose to what I have available. The arm sections ong>ofong> the seat are made from cast iron, which has been painted gold at some point, which has now aged up giving a great look, and character to them. To the top ong>ofong> the arm it has a padded and upholstered arm rest. The seats date to around , and were removed from a cinema/theatre in Welwyn Garden City. I bought these ong>chairsong> more than 25 years ago from an antique centre in Leicester which no longer exists. Gradually I had them all re-caned (there was a set ong>ofong> 4 ong>originalong>ly). At that time they cost me £350 each to be re-caned because they are all double sided caning which I understand is rather difficult to do. The person that did these made an amazing job and the caning is in fantastic condition. They were all re-upholstered too and although that was a great job they do need doing again.
