7m LED Solar Rope Garden Lights
These rope lights are a bit of a DIY effort as I made them myself with the exception of the actual light strings which were shop bought. They were originally used in my parents garden but now no longer required and they are too good to throw out so I'm just keeping them in my flat for now as I'm sure someone would just love these for their garden this summer to add a bit of light to it at night! I bought some aquatic tubing and using a fishwire, managed to thread 2m of one old light string into a thinner tube and 5m of a 50 LED light string into a slightly thicker tube and used hot melt glue to seal everything together and make the wiring inside the tube waterproof. The solar panel used to be a hanging lantern but as I no longer have the original solar charging panel for this, I modified this hanging lantern to use to power the rope lights. Takes 1 'AA' Battery (included). Static On Mode only feature (no flashing mode). Features over 50 LED's, 1 or 2 are a little dim and 2 or 3 have stopped working but the rest are all working fine. 2.1m cable from solar charging lantern to tube so lantern can be raised and hung up for optimum charging and performance. LED's go on automatically when daylight drops to a certain level and go off automatically when daylight reaches a certain level so charging of the battery via the solar panel can commence and continue through the daylight hours until it goes dark again where charging will stop. By that time, the battery should be at full charge if there's been plenty of daylight and sun during the day and LED's will switch back on again through the night until it gets light again. PLEASE NOTE: I have used a number of barbecue skewers as a way of running the lights along the garden while allowing them to be raised up from the soil and grass and be seen better. If you don't require these skewers, please let me know and I will remove them before you come to collect them. If you do want to keep them with the skewers on, please also note that THE ENDS OF THE SKEWERS ARE SHARP! Please be careful when handling these and ensure children are told about the sharp ends and are kept away from them. Thanks for looking. Read More
