The device itself is in good working condition, and has no issues with it. It does have some scratches however. The keyboard is the original Microsoft one it came with, which works fine except for the arrow keys! They do not work! Also the sides of the keyboard have started to peel up, which doesn’t affect the use. I think you can buy a replacement keyboard, I’m not sure. The charger isn’t the original from Microsoft, but it has worked perfectly with no issue. Overall the surface is in good working order, however has been well loved. It's pretty damn good, but the battery should be bigger, and a standard charging port would have been a bonus.
I bought this to replace a Chuwi Hi12 which died - Chinese electronics strikes again - and it's a very good piece of kit, even considering the age. The display is the same panel as the hi12, so "Excellent" is an understatement, but the touch on the Surface is much, much better due to the panel and the digitiser being closer together. Performance wise, there is no comparison, the Surface is so much more fluid, and the pen can draw a curve without "stuttering". Given it was second hand - and ex-demo - I was surprised to find it hadn't been wiped and it was a pain to work out how to reset it then load a fresh Win10 onto it. But when done, it's a beautiful little piece of kit. It'll run Visual Studio 2019 fine - albeit a little slow on compilation - and Paintshop Pro 9 works fine as well, particularly with the pen. The TypeCover is very usable - even if US layout only - and it even backs up quickly using AOMEI Backupper Standard, thanks to a genuine SSD instead of the eMMC disk in the Hi12 - which contributes a lot to the speed. The battery though? It's a bit small. The Hi12 has 11Ah, this is 5.5Ah with a better processor, more RAM, and the same display. Even MS say that it's 9 hours of "light browsing". In practice it's 3 hours of "general use" before you need the charger again. But, it charges pretty fast, and you can use it while it charges (unlike my wife's Samsung tablet). Bought this not expensive 2in1 for being 5years old i wasn't expecting it to be fast, but boy how wrong was I, it's very fast plays my games great, streaming video is also good, screen is brilliant but that's just my opinion, you might not think so but that's ok, I've not in countered any problems with using it, speakers are quite good for something so thin, but again my own opinion, would I recommend this the answer is definitely yes!

Excellent device.
This tablet/computer runs flawlessly even after a few years, it hasn't fallen into disuse. Perfect for students thanks to its versatility it can also handle " heavy " softwares like Photoshop or even light games perfectly. The screen quality is gorgeous, consuming entertainment or media is a real pleasure. The sound quality isn't too bad and the battery life is more than decent ( a full day of normal usage ). Accessories can easily be improved and updated, for instance the surface pro 4 Type Cover is compatible and is far better than the surface pro 3 one. The same with the surface pen. To conclude, this laptop/tablet is a great device for those who need to strike a balance between versatility and power. Another thing I'd like to mention, this tablet runs a full version of Windows unlike its " pro " fruity competitor, if you see what I mean.Read full review
