I was attracted to this because it had the mobile (swing up) screen, and added choices in the 'Art' exposure menu. The mobile screen makes the camera usable at waist-level, and is a far better option for flexible viewing than the (expensive & clumsy) add-on electronic viewfinders that are available. The Olympus E-P series is so light and so versatile that I've gone mad and added this to the E-P1 I bought initially, and the E-PL2 that I subsequently added. My quandary now is that, though I don't really need more than two Pen bodies, each of the three has distinct features that I don't want to lose! What I thoroughly recommend to go with the E-PL3 camera body is the 12-50mm power zoom lens, which is a first-rate optic, and in a totally different league from the Olympus 'kit' lenses. With the E-PL3 you can effectively do all the creation of an image in-camera. Portable, usable, and fine-looking!Read full review
Whilst being an older model you still get a lot of features for your money. If you want something with better image quality than a compact camera, with interchangeable lenses, but without the weight and bulk of a DSLR then this PEN E-PL3 mirrorless camera fits the bill. It's light, fully-featured, and has a reasonable selection of new and second-hand lenses. OK it's only 12.3MP, considered low by modern standards, but I've not found a significant difference between the PEN E-PL3 and my hideously expensive 50MP EOS 5DS R. I wanted the PEN as a "throw in the car glovebox" camera and it hasn't disappointed.
