OSCE training session in Manchester in Stockport
Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Test of Competence(Part 2):Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for registering nurses and midwives who are trained outside the EEA A two part competence test sits at the heart of the new system. Candidates will sit a computer based test as well as an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)(refer the link given below). https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/trained-outside-the-eueea/ The first part of the test of competence is a computer based test of theoretical practice-based knowledge(CBT). The test format will be multiple choice and can be taken in test centres around the world.Part 2 is a nursing or midwifery Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). The OSCE can only be sat after successfully passing Part 1 and only the NMC can authorise a candidate to take Part 2 after successfully passing the assessment stage. The OSCE will simulate a clinical environment and "patient" scenarios which Registered Nurses and Midwives are likely to encounter when they assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. Candidates are expected to utilise a contemporary evidence base and effectively demonstrate safe practical application of nursing and midwifery skills. The Test of Competence is blueprinted against the current UK pre-registration standards and these standards are available on the NMC's web site. In order to be eligible for Part 2 (OSCE) candidates must have passed Part 1 and have submitted their documents to the NMC. The NMC are responsible for authorising all candidates. Applicants sit the OSCE in the UK. It is currently administered by the University of Northampton, the independent test provider of NMC. The pass rate of candidates appearing for the OSCE is relatively low accounting only for 49%(refer the NMC link below) https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/trained-outside-the-eueea/pass-rates-and-candidate-numbers/ Taking into account the low pass rates in OSCE, Ealoor Consultancy UK limited has initiated an OSCE training session and to become the pioneers in providing the OSCE training in UK.
