Ornate gilded English sofa in the style of Louis XIV

A fine example of a late period ornately carved gilded English sofa. Circa , this antique parlour sofa is in the Louis XIV style and reflects the baroque period of the s. An exquisite and elaborately carved sofa displaying gently curving legs has seen sensitive attention to restoration with the charm of the original gilding being left in the condition it was found in. The pediment details slight damage, again it was decided to not overly restore, although this could easily be re-carved. It has been fully reupholstered using modern materials, as the original horsehair was not salvageable. The covering material is an extremely high quality contemporary fabric and was selected to not only compliment the piece but to enable it to sit within a modern setting; braiding has been applied but alternatively double piping could easily replace this feature.

A stunning classical 3 seater French sofa, Louis XIV

This sofa comes in the rarer classical green colour I purchased this sofa from a couple in Muswell Hill who told me that they purchased it from Harrods. This sofa is the genuine article compared to a lot of cheaper copies as it features intricate carving around the frame which I have sought to capture in the photos. I had the cushions refilled for £117 two years ago. This sofa does have some wear and tear which I have captured in photos but because I can only upload 3 pictures, please read the following description: - The trim has started to fall away on the right arm, however this can easily be fixed - When I bought the sofa the seller didn't tell me about significant the burn marks underneath the cushion, but this has never been an issue as its always been turned over - There is a burn mark on the left cushion and on the right arm - There is some pulling of the material on the right cushion As this sofa has a high quality frame you may find that you would like to have this reupholstered. I have received many compliments on this sofa and I am really sad to let it go as I really love it. I am only selling it because of a back injury.
