The moulded mantel above a ropetwist and panelled frieze over a horseshoe enclosed grate within volute scrolled jambs! Is what the super posh valuer said. This is a gorgeous solid cast iron fireplace which is very unusual in design- similar design replicas cost thousands. Please note this fireplace is very heavy - it took 4 men to unload it and they struggled. The fireplace does need some tlc- there's paint along the edges were the previous owner painted the wall with the fireplace in situ. I would remove it and clean it up myself but I don't know what I am doing. The locking bolts at the rear have been replaced at some point. Original Victorian cast iron fireplace and curved insert £200 ono

Cast iron fireplace and surround. In good condition, just has some plaster attached and needs a good clean. 120cm wide,100cm tall, mantelpiece 25cm wide at widest point. Also the mirror which was mounted above it, appears to be wooden surround. The mirror itself is slightly foxed as you would expect with its age.
