Antique Art Deco / Nouveau brass mirror / picture frame.

This is a beautiful Art Nouveau style picture frame, or mirror frame. It is marked on the rear Beatrice P. I am not sure what it is made of, though it may be brass. It has an aged brass finish on the front. Maybe could do with a good clean / polish. I did some research into Beatrice and found out that it was a trademark owned by John Harper & Co. Ltd., Walsall Road Works, Willenhall, UK. This pattern was originally produced probably between and , and this is most likely a later version, showing number P. What exact date this was made I have not been able to confirm from the code number. Fantastic condition with the lovely aged brass, and a beautiful style. There is a small leg at the rear of the frame, acting on a hinge, to stand the frame. There is some slight wear, and discolouration, through age. Measures: 30 cm high x 24 cm wide. Weight about 950 gr. It will take a mirror or glass of approximately 6 inches x 4 inches. (not included). The pictures form part of the description, so please satisfy yourself as to condition, etc. I have bought many items in the street markets of the Lot, South West France, where I had a home until recently. Similar frames can be seen for sale if you Google “Beatrice frame P” and look at images section. They are very beautiful, and collectable. You can see what a bargain this is! I can post at cost. Brass fire fender Art Nouveau, `s ca, French

Dimensions: Height: 36cm (14.2") Width: cm (59.3") Depth: 38.5cm (15.2") Brass fire fender Art Nouveau, `s ca, French. Thoroughly cleaned respecting the original patina. This quality cast solid brass fire fender is decorative with its undulating curves and design elements from the earlier baroque period. In this example the free flowing form design is pared down and from the Art Nouveau period. At the centre there is a dramatic decorative cartouche with exaggerated leaf motives. On either side of this there are two even more elaborate designs containing two cherubs around a pearl-like form. Characteristic of baroque design there is exuberant swirls alongside areas of dramatic void. Each corner is decorated with a tall cabriolet form topped with a finial. The fender turns inwards and on each side there is another baroque crest. It is from this angle that the detailed internal side can be appreciated and indicative of quality. At the bottom there is a stepped plinth base and at the top it is finished with a fluted undulating bar. This brass fender has a warm antique patina built up over time. The componets are intact & secure. There are a few minor dents as would be expected for this age. For transport this piece would be bubble wrapped with an outer layer of card. A lovely large Art Nouveau/Art Deco wooden fire surround.With stained glass. Needs some renovation but will be absolutely stunning when finished. It measures 5ft w x 80 inches tall x 12 inches d the opening is 40 w x 38x all in approx inches. It does have some damage to the glass, inc 1 piece missing left side 1 cracked 2 damaged, right has 2 cracked & 1 missing, the mirror back has been replaced with hardboard but will not be seen when fixed to a wall,the marks by the windows are where handles have been, there are other age related marks as pictured hence price.
