This Mir was made in India. Mir carpets are originally knotted in the mountainous area in and around Arak, in western Iran.Characteristic for a Mir is the contemporary design, called Boteh or Paisley pattern, a drop-shape with the tip pointing in one direction. A Mir often has a continuous pattern, but some have a medallion and corner patterns. Mir rugs are durable rugs, made of wool on a cotton warp (bobbin thread).
