Excellent hand-knotted Orient carpet Pakistan –Bokhara –
I offer a wonderful old Bokhara with very fine knotting. In line with its age there are a couple of worn spots on the pile. The carpet has beautiful harmonic colours and patterns and is in a good condition.Bokhara is an Oasis city in Uzbekistan (the former Uzbek SSR) on the famous silk road. Even in the 19th century, this historically important city was the trading centre of Central Asia. As far as we know, no carpets were made in Bokhara itself, but it is a name for whole groups of Oriental carpets. These carpet were made by different Turkoman tribes in Persia, Gordon, Gonbad-i-Kavus and in Afghanistan and they are some of the finest and most beloved carpets in Central Asia. This explains also why many other countries, like for example: Pakistan, Balkans and Turkey copy this carpet. To be correct, these copies are also described as such, for example Pakistan, Bokhara.Typical for the Bokhara is the even distribution of many small medallions, usually surrounded by a beautiful border. The dimensions without fringe are 274 x160cm.Please look at the pictures for a detailed description. Read More
