Incredible handmade Persian carpet: Antique Koliyai 207 x
Welcome to Passion d'Orient:The Koliay/Koliai are semi-nomadic ethnic Kurds; they live in a rural area between the centres of Songor, Asadabad and Kirmanshah, where you can find their carpets. These are heavy and robustly manufactured items with relatively high-cut pile. Their wool is of good quality and has a satisfying shine. The field is divided into diamond shapes by a continuous lattice comprising stems and tiny rosettes. Sometimes the decoration features spandrels, in other cases it extends freely over the whole field. The central medallion is also an element that is sometimes included in the pattern. Another characteristic of this design is found in the colour used for the background, always a camel-hair brown, while red is often used for the borders.Manufacture: Hand-knotted Size:207 x 140 cm Thickness: approximately 10 mm.
