The back has been hollowed out, this was done to prevent cracks in the wood.It dates back to the 17th century and the origin is Belgium/Flanders.Nice soft patina on the wood. Part from a church interior.The sculpture is 78.5 cm high. It is mounted on a round oak pedestal with nice details. This is originally not part of the sculpture and so is a later addition.The total height of the sculpture including the pedestal is 106 cm. The sculpture is mounted loose on the pedestal with a heavy iron pen with screw thread. The carving can easily be unscrewed and detached from the pedestal and suspended, if one so wishes.
