Bidjar This carpet was knotted circa in the city of Bidjar.The city of Bidjar lies approx. 150 km northwest of Hamadan, in the centre of the Kurdish region.The Bidjar rugs are knotted by the Kurds in approx. 30 villages and in the city itself.Contemporary items are characterised by an extraordinarily resilient, firm and almost board-like structure.The wefts are dampened. When using the striking paddle, the water oozes out and the wefts contract after drying. This explains the board-like condition. It is considered almost indestructible.
