Moorcroft Carousel: Centenary 14â Charger: Designer Rachel Bishop. Numbered Edition 193
Moorcroft Carousel: Centenary 14â Charger: Designed by Moorcroftâs senior designer Rachel Bishop, the central feature of the Centenary Carousel was the 14â Charger carrying a mix of fruit and flowers, all of which had been used by Moorcroft designers at one time or another during the preceding ninety-nine years. The charger was extremely difficult to both design and make pushing Moorcroftâs repertoire of colour far beyond any preceding parameters with the piece carrying no fewer than fifteen âcolour buildsâ. Spinning away from the charger were four vases all using a combination of woodsmoke and jade as ground colours, with designs themed from the charger itself, a 6â ginger jar, the popular 32/5 vase, plus two new vase shapes a and 80/9. This wonderful piece of Moorcroft, launched to celebrate the Moorcroft centenary in features a rich and intricate design of fruit and flowers, combining the images used on the other pieces in the Carousel range. At the time it was probably the most elaborate piece of Moorcroft ever produced. The Carousel had numbered editions with each piece in the Carousel range given a unique number. ⢠The charger measures 14 inches in diameter. ⢠This piece is number 193 from the centenary year. ⢠It has the Centenary Mark âH &Câ for Roman hundred (some of the later numbers were made after the centenary year in and bear the âironâ mark) ⢠It has the factory impressed marks ⢠Copyright 96 mark. ⢠It has the painted monogram of William Moorcroft ⢠Paintress monogram of Hayley Moore. ⢠Rachel Bishop signature - very stylish in blue. ⢠John Moorcroft signature dated in gold. The prestigious Centenary Year included a number of special occasions John Moorcroft attended during which he signed his name âon glazeâ and dated the piece for the purchaser. ⢠Original certificate included ⢠Original box. This piece is in perfect condition with no damage or restoration. It is guaranteed first quality with no silver line or red dot. I have owned since new, displayed very occasionally and has been mostly stored in its original box with slip cover. The combination of Signatures low number and correct year make this an exceptionally collectable example. I have the 4 other Carousel vases available for sale separately. The rich mix of colours used on all 5 pieces are very much in the Rachel Bishop idiom. The designs are sharp and clear and very special indeed.I will sell individually or as the complete Carousel. All perfect as above. See adds. Probably the best available. I have a very good knowledge of Moorcroft and will be happy to answer any questions or queries you may have. Charger Price ÂŁ425.
