Robert Montgomery - Satan A Poem by Robert Montgomery -

London, Samuel MaunderComplete and in fine condition, (21 by 13cm), 391 pages.Bound in really stained half cloth and paper covered boards. All pages untrimmed.. Like the first edition held at Harry Ransom, there's an errata slip inserted, in this case just after the title (Ransom"s copy notes it after page 17.The edition held by most institutions is the second edition and reflects just not the corrections on the errata slip.Whole stanzas thrown out replacinggreat chunks of original crud with new clods of manure. This is a perfect example of why Pastors should never write poetry,. Hell even his contemporaries thought it stank to high heaven.Just goes to show you that Satan does work in mysterious ways and has a wick sense of humor to boot. Read More

Kuniyoshi - From the Arthur R. Miller Collection

From the Arthur R. Miller Collection; Illustrated d/jkt, unclipped. Bright orange cloth boards, clean. Colour illustrations. Catalogue of exhibition March-Jun to (11" x pagesThis handsome volume explores the life and work of Utagawa Kuniyoshi (), one of Japans greatest print artists. Alongside such illustrious names as Hokusai and Hiroshige, he dominated the nineteenth-century production of the popular genre of woodblock prints known as ukiyo-e, literally, pictures of the floating world. The only major book to illustrate the entirety of the artists work, Kuniyoshi explores his extraordinary imagination across animpressive range of subject matter, from portraits of Japanese warrior heroes and fashionable beauties to satirical themes and innovative landscape prints. Alongside exquisite reproductions of his finest prints, examples of Kuniyoshis original drawings highlight his unique approach to composition and provide valuable insight into the creative process of this prolific and multitalented artist. Published to accompany a spectacular exhibition, Kuniyoshi is an essential reference for Japanese art collectors and enthusiasts.
