A superb, quality set, of 12 matching Chippendale, reproduction dining chairs (ALL Chippendale chairs are reproduction no matter of what age unless you are paying many 100's of thousands of pounds for the real thing, if you can find any). I can't be certain as to their age so I will not pretend as to this although they definitely have some age to them. It is very unusual to find a set of 12 dining chairs of this quality. (10 singles and 2 carvers) The carving, as can be seen in the photographs, is excellent. The chairs feature shaped serpentine head rails with a delicately carved shell design to the centre. The chairs are solid with no loose legs etc. Exquisite carved open fretwork backs. Refined pierced central splats. Drop in seats which are very easy to recover. Carved' scroll cabriole legs. Ball and claw feet. Rear legs are flared at the foot (a sign of quality). Heavy chairs again a sign of quality. Gadroom moulding to the front apron of the seat. Rich dark mahogany colour and patina. They are a true set of 12 and have not been matched together. They will enhance any dining room, board room, living room etc Very rare to find a matched set of 12. A Matching Pair Of Victorian Waterer & Sons Mahogany Gentleman's Library Armchairs For Renovation.

NOW REDUCED IN PRICE FOR A QUICK SALE, A VERY NICE MATCHING PAIR OF LATE VICTORIAN, WATERER AND SONS OF CHERTSEY, GENTLEMAN'S MAHOGANY LIBRARY OR ARMCHAIRS WITH SOUND FRAMES BUT IN NEED OF RESTORATION AS THE UPHOLSTERY WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETELY RENEWED. THEY WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT AND RELATIVELY EASY WINTER PROJECT. Here we have a matching pair of Victorian solid mahogany framed gentleman's library or armchairs. They were made by the respected firm of Waterer and Sons of Chertsey in around and each frame has the maker's name stamped on the underside. They have been in dry storage for almost 50 years and the upholstery is obviously in a very scruffy condition. However, they would make a very nice project for anyone who is into antique furniture restoration and are now up for sale at just £140. Actually I would say that anyone who enjoys furniture restoration as a hobby will find these relatively simple to tackle and I have listed all the relevant points as I see them below. The chairs were originally covered in burgundy button-backed leather. This has been removed and discarded from one and partly removed from the second. They could of course be recovered in either leather or cloth. Most of the original horse-hair stuffing and lining material is still present, plus the webbing and all springs look very good. The castors are all there but there is some wear to the bores of the brass plates so the chairs sit lower than they should. The ceramic wheels look good. The mahogany frames look very good to me. Obviously they will need some refinishing work but I can't see any damage or sign of worm. The chairs' approx. measurements in inches are 35 high x 36 deep x 24 wide. The seat is about 24 deep x 19 wide and the seat height is around 15 at the front and 13 at the rear. Please email me if you would like to view the chairs.
