Analog Man Prince Of Tone Guitar Boost, Overdrive & Distortion Pedal

A rare opportunity to buy this extremely high quality boutique overdrive, boost and distortion guitar pedal that is notoriously difficult to get hold of. The Prince Of Tone overdrive is one side of the famous King Of Tone, designed to take an amp at reasonable settings, and make it sound like it would sound if it were naturally driven to pure, smooth, tube distortion. It was fine tuned with a s Fender Deluxe Reverb amp to duplicate the sound when the amp is singing, but at lower volume settings - to simulate the natural tube amp distortion of preamp and power tubes. It does the same thing on other amps like Vox, Marshall, etc, making them sing in their own voice. It has an external Mode switch to select between Boost, Overdrive and Distortion modes. There is a Treble trimpot is inside, just like the King Of Tone and two DIP switches. DIP1: LO-MID lift switch. The tone from your lower strings will be enhanced a little. DIP2: TURBO switch- with higher gain settings you?ll hear deeper compression, especially in DIST mode. You will hear a brighter, crunchier sound with this on at higher DRIVE settings. The three modes are: 1) Normal Overdrive mode (OD mode): This is the standard King Of Tone sound, - a touch more drive available than a tube screamer. Can get much louder than a tube screamer. 2) CLEAN mode: This mode has less distortion, it can be used for clean boosts or clearer, louder sounds. It's sort of a cross between a true clean boost and an overdrive. CLEAN MODE is even less compressed and louder than the OD mode. 3) DISTORTION mode: more drive than the standard mode- a touch of hard distortion. The sound is more compressed, yet retains the pedal's character. Same volume as OD mode. At low DRIVE settings, or when playing softly, there is not much difference between the three modes, they all can get pretty clean and have the same level at low drive settings. The ability to clean up when playing softly is a very useful feature of this pedal. The pedal is in absolutely mint condition having had occasional light studio use only and never been gigged. It is sold complete with original box, instruction sheet and Analog Man stickers. Collection can be made from either St Albans (AL1) or Hitchin (SG4). Cash on collection. The overdrive is low to medium gained for a sweet and crispy with the mellow midrange that reminds one of the old TopBoost amps from the late 60’s, the two channels are ranging from a mild breakup to a healthy overdriven sound. One channel can be used for that slightly chimey breakup, and the other channel can be set for more overdrive giving more saturated mids and drive, you can freely set them the way that suits your needs. The AC-Tone has as most Carl Martin pedals a built in regulated (+-12V) power supply, to secure the necessary headroom that gives you the great tone." Here's a 5* review I found... "This Carl Martin pedal has a internal power supply instead of a wall wart, doesn't take batterys and is like getting three pedals in one. Turns any vintage single chanel amp in to a 3 channel amp with it's 2 drive stages and seperate boost function. Any old Fender amp will benefit from this pedal. It has a crunchy bright sound but not brittle at all. It sounds nothing like a Tube Screamer clone. Set one drive for a little shimmering crunch, set the next for full on O.D. then kick in the 20 d.b.boost for even more fun. Built like the proverbial tank too. left handed semi acoustic by WESTFIELD comes in a fitted hardcase/30 watt twin channel marshall amp/zoom 505 effects pedal. the only fault with the guitar is ive snapped the head off one of the string pegs at the bridge whilst changing the strings other than that everything else works like new,i.e. the E,Q volume controls etc are perfect no hiss or buzz. it also plays and stays in tune perfectly. the amp is a standard marshall c30 twin channel,again everthing works perfectly. the zoom 505 effects pedal has no faults at all and comes with the adapter to plug it in.great old school sounds. the fitted hardcase is the one that came with the guitar and is in excellent condition.
