Dimensions: cm With beautiful endpapers.This is a 18th-century handwritten Czech prayer book by Jozefa Nowaku from Tuchlowicz, nowadays Tuchlovice in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. The text is complemented by beautiful drawings in colour and a lovely ornamental border around the text. The leather binding is also original, and probably created especially for Jozefa Nowaku. On the front covers in gold letters: J.N.; on the back: . The title page also has handwritten text, probably about the owner. The book is carefully and beautifully written. (blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus).Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae Amen. (Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death).On the basis of the third part (which was added officially after the Council of Trent) I think that the original is from around . This is presumably a beautiful copy from the 19th century. It may be older, though. Of course, additional information is available upon request!General characteristics:The print is hand-coloured. In addition to Mary with the infant Jesus and an adult Jesus, also the Pope is depicted (a reference to Council of Trent?). In some places the print is gilt-heightened.
