No.: .The village of Heriz is located just west of Tabriz, in the Persian occupied part of Azerbaijan.Heriz carpets can often be distinguished by their straight-lined designs, which differ from the traditional Arabesques and rolls that are typical for Persian carpets.A large, central striped medallion with corners or a full design with strongly stylised flower patterns is fairly typical.Repeated patterns occur less often.The pile is thick and firm and the colour scheme is rich and varied.Older Heriz carpets had coloured bases and usually had indigo medallions.The finer carpets use the "double outline" technique, in which the design of the carpet is separated from the field by two lines in different colours.This type of carpet is often large and durable, which makes it suited for hallways and public areas.
