Devon Seascapes Photography Workshop - 2nd/3rd April in

Devon Seascapes Photography Workshop - 2nd/3rd April in

Join Alan Ranger for this amazing photography workshop in some the best photographic coastal parts of the UK. The rugged shoreline and beach at Hartland Quay, everyone's favourite - Clovelly harbour, and time permitting perhaps a stop off at Croyde Bay or Heddon's Mouth. Typically we start the day at Hartland Quay, North Devon and meet for breakfast at the Hartland Quay Hotel which resides on the cliff edge overlooking the spectacular shoreline. Hartland Quay is one of the UK's most dramatic seascape locations. Long slithers of rock formations and a fierce tide combine to bring you a fantastic photographic location. After some time working the rugged shoreline and beach we move onto a second location - this will depend on wishes of group, tide times and weather but Clovelly harbour is normally a favourite spot for lunch and some different shots. The afternoon we have more choices to shoot at several local beaches and can choose depending on whether you want rock formations or sand patterns... The Sunday we head part way back and can stop at Croyde, Heddon or any one of the great coastal spots depending on the requirements of the group - choices are sand dunes, large sweeping sandy beaches, large boulder and pebble beaches or rivers and waterfalls that join the sea. There are 3 options available: Two day, one day or half day Choose between Tuition only or all inclusive option too. * No prior knowledge of photography is required as each student will be taught individually, according to their level. * Recognise correct lighting, contrast and texture to shape and form each shot. * Learn the impact of using long exposure, shallow depth of field and other techniques. * Work with Alan to review your shots, accept new ideas and improve your photography. Cognisys StackShot Macro Photography Unit

Cognisys StackShot Macro Photography Unit

I don't have the box or instructions anymore, the instructions are available on the Cognisys website, the plastic protector on the screen is in a bit (see photo) does not affect the use.I have posted some pictures I have taken with the stack shot using Helicon focus. The cables present are for use with a Nikon DSLR, I have enclosed a male female USB extension for a pc or laptop and the Nikon to laptop cable. Cognisys focus rail and controller complete with UK mains cable, motor cable and instruction manual. I have used the unit with Nikon cameras and the camera connection cable is included. Cables for other cameras are available from Cognisys. Here's a description from the Cognisys website: STACKSHOT - AUTOMATED MACRO RAIL FOR FOCUS STACKING Macro-photography is a fascinating sub-set of the photographic world. It brings to life detail that the human eye all too often misses. Unfortunately macro photographs often suffer from a narrow depth of field. How do photographers capture that stunning shot at high magnification and still have great depth of field? Enter focus stacking. Focus stacking is the art of digitally combining a series of images with a narrow depth of field into a single image with an extended depth. The images are usually collected with a macro rail and combined using a software program such as Zerene Stacker or Helicon Focus. Ideally each of these images is taken at a fixed distance interval. Most macro photographers are familiar with using a macro rail to adjust the cameraā€™s position relative to the subject of interest. These macro rails allow the distance to be adjusted and provide a crude manual method for taking the series of shots required for focus stacking. Unfortunately there are several drawbacks. There is a lack of accuracy, reproducibility, speed, and precision. Additionally, sub-millimeter steps are difficult at best. This is where StackShot comes in, it is an automated focusing rail for repeatably collecting images for focus stacking. Also, if you want to take your focus stacking to the next level by adding additional axis of automated motion (subject rotation for example) you may be interested in our StackShot 3X controller, or see a comparison of the two controllers. THE SOLUTION? STACKSHOT StackShot is an electronically controlled macro rail system that coordinates the movement of the macro rail and the triggering of the camera. StackShotā€™s simple user-interface makes the automation of the entire image collecting process for focus stacking very easy. What are the advantages of StackShot? Accuracy: Rail adjustment from full length of 100 mm to 2 um. Repeatability: An ā€œautomatic returnā€ feature allows adjustments to the exposure settings between stacks captured with the same position and step size as the previous run. Speed: No more manually adjusting the rail position, pressing the shutter button, and hoping you didnā€™t bump the camera. Everything is automated and fast. This enables focus-stacking for critters that may not be willing to stay in the same position for very long. See our customer gallery for some excellent captures of live spiders. Completely Configurable: Just as with StopShot, virtually everything can be adjusted by the user. Timing (both on, off and settle), number of pictures per step (useful for HDR ā€“ imagine an HDR focus-stack!), maximum speed, ramp time, camera settle time, etc. Itā€™s everything you would expect from Cognisys.
