London Brighton and South Coast Railway teak cased 18 inch dial weight driven wall clock.

This is a London Brighton and South Coast Railway teak cased 18 inch dial weight driven wall clock. It is a large and attractive solid Teak cased wall mounted weight driven regulator that was supplied to the LBSCR in at a cost of £d by Richard Webster of Cornhill St London it spent all of it's railway working life at Streatham Common Railway Station. The Dial was repainted by the Southern and later British Railways Southern Region clock contractor, John Walker of 1 South Molton Street, London post . This type of clock was usually mounted externally hence the need for using Teak in the case construction, the movement has six spoked wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrison's maintaining power and a deal pendulum rod with a cast zinc cylindrical bob which is suspended from the backboard, this is a impressive clock standing 85 inches tall so can't always fit the modern houses ceiling height ! This is a nice Edwardian period Mahogany school/Railway Clock.The clock is working and has key but has no front glass.The dial face is about 9 inches wide and the back spring movement marked DUFA P12.The clock has pendulum but I do not think this original to clock.The wooden case is in good condition as is the front painted dial.This is a nice looking small clock for ones home or office.The clock has period key and the movement is 8 day.I think this is a French or German made clock.Once a replacement front glass has been put back in this will be a great little clock.
