Bred to lay like a machine, commercially it is kept for a period of months before it is replaced mainly because its egg quality deteriorates. In normal free range conditions they can continue laying for a number of years. In the second year of lay their egg shell can become thinner, and become misshaped. Four pekin bantam hens looking for a good home

We are looking for a home for our lovely four pekin bantam hens. We had them when they were three chicks with their mother hen in August. Now all three chicks grew up and we want a good home for all of the four. The three hens have not laid eggs yet (I think they're five months of age now). The mother hen also haven't started to lay eggs again. We are asking for £40 for all of them. They roam free in the garden and used to children and adults, but they don't like being handled.
