1st Edition Print Savoy Cocktail Book
Here is a first edition of Harry Craddocks Savoy Cocktail Book, written and printed in . Harry Craddock was the bartender at the Savoy Hotel in London, having left his home in New York, fleeing prohibition, (good move). He went on the write the definitive cocktail book and it's been in print ever since. London in the s was gearing up to a new scale of social freedom. Bars, clubs and music halls were tempting people out of their homes with the promise of spectacle, glamour and fun, and what better way to spend an evening than sipping a cocktail at The Savoy. This is a must have item for anyone who loves the 30's era, or appreciates the sheer uniqueness of this historic modern first edition book. There is some wear to this item. Limited cosmetic wear and all pages fully in tact. However, the cotton spine of the book has come away on one side (as you can see in one of the photos). The spine is structurally sound so I believe it would be a simple stitch repair should you wish to. There are also notes made in pencil at the back of the book. Most likely from a bartender of the time as they are recipes. Viewings welcome and any questions please ask. Item is located in Fulham, London SW6. Happy bidding!
