Si cela n’est pas, je suis mon inclination en vous Ă©crivant. » He praises Buonaparte whose « le gĂ©nie a rendu Ă  la France sa splendeur ». He has been living off his pen for seven years, without « solde ou pension d’aucun souverain Ă©tranger ». He announces the release of a book, never published, from which he gives an extract from the warning cencerning Buonaparte and continues to praise him, ending his letter by « Quand vous aurez lĂ» cet extrait, vous serez convaincu que personne ne dĂ©sire plus rĂ©ellement votre gloire & votre bonheur que le gĂ©nĂ©ral DuMouriez ». The extract of the warning goes in the same direction. He has « toujours justice Ă  son gĂ©nie » and talks about « l’époque oĂč la calomnie cherchait Ă  diminuer le mĂ©rite de cet homme cĂ©lĂšbre ». He even a biography of Buonaparte, who profited from the purchase of Corsica, otherwise « il eut Ă©tĂ© toute sa vie un ĂȘtre turbulent, ignorant & obscur. Notoriously, Santa Anna burned the bodies of the Texans who had dared stand against him. As this book proves in thorough detail, the funeral pyres were well outside the fort-that is, where the two separate groups of escapers fell on the plain, rather than in the Alamo itself.
